McLaren celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in 2012. Here is a short film that not only captures the essence of what the company is, but also gives you a feel of who Bruce McLaren was and the legacy he left behind. The video lasts just a little under 3 min 40sec’s, but it sure will stay with you for quite a while. The film follows ghost of Bruce McLaren as he retraces the scene of his crash at the Goodwood circuit in 1970 – the crash that took his life at the tragically young age of 32. Shot in Söderlund’s trademark, dreamlike state, it is accompanied by a spine-tingling Bruce McLaren monologue, ending poignantly with the words:

“…What might be seen as a tragic end was in fact a beginning. As I always said, to do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. Indeed, life is not measured in years alone but in achievement…”

This short film brings back memories of Aerton Senna, may be because he was one of the greatest F1 driver and also died very young. The film ‘Senna’ captures Aerton’s enigma.
