Now Google lets you add a favorite photo or image to the background of your Google.com homepage. It also lets you choose an image or photo from your computer or your own Picasa Web Album.

Since its inception Bing has been having this idea of putting interesting background images on its main page with fun little facts embedded into it. I personally believe if Google was inspired with Bings Homepage they should have either bettered or matched them. Unfortunately they don’t. Reading Googles official blog it is unclear whether the Homepage Backgrounds change everyday? All they say is for next 24 hours they will be featuring inspiring images as backgrounds. Why not do it everyday?

In this era of unquenchable thirst for information, Google thinks adding a homepage background with no information about the image is cool, well I guess it’s not.

This idea is so simple and easy to implement, but it’s impact is enormous. It will be interesting to see what the users have to say about it.
