Adobe Brackets is a modern, open source text editor that understands web design. Its built in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Brackets focusses on the front-end only, freeing it to deliver a amazing features like inline editing; where CSS code associated with an HTML element can be edited just by hovering over it. Brackets is a joy to use. It has a committed community that not only contributes to its source code, but releases some incredible extensions that are free to install.

Over the years I have used various editors like EditPlus, Notepad++, Scintilla, SublimeText and various others. It’s refreshing to code in Brackets for the front end. Even if you don’t do any front end coding and just want a text/code editor, with Brackets you will not be disappointed.

“Every self respecting developer has a Text editor in his arsenal.”
